In British Columbia, teachers who hold teaching certificates must adhere to a specific set of standards for education, competence, and professional conduct. As a result, these professional standards guide and support the actions and attitudes of teachers in BC classrooms. It is critical that teachers have a clear understanding and a deep knowledge of these standards. These standards are put into place to ensure that all students are provided with an equitable and inclusive education. As a teacher candidate, it is necessary that I am well versed on the professional standards for BC educators. Moreover, I need to ensure that I uphold these values at all times.
