This semester I was given the opportunity to fully explore the writing process by working through the process of writing a children’s book. I began by brainstorming ideas by creating a mind web. This step did not have a clear focus and included a wide variety of ideas. After narrowing my focus, I moved on to the drafting stage. During this stage I made multiple versions of my book before finding one that I was happy with. After carefully editing and proofreading, I finally made it to the publishing stage. In the end, I had completed my first book. Following the writing process was a great experience. Learning in this hands on way allowed me to recognize its importance and consider the ways that I will include this process in my future classrooms.
